The team behind The cycle for Life 2008 expedition based in England approached gotwind for some solutions for their power requirements.

Gotwind founder Ben Jandrell hands over the solar components to team member Jess Hatcher.
What is
the Cycle of Life?
The Cycle of Life is an intrepid expedition that has been organised to raise
money and awareness for environmentally responsible community development
projects in rural Africa. A team of bicyclists will trek 5000 miles across
Africa – a journey that will last almost 4 months as they cover ground from
Namibia to Kenya. By the end of the trip, with your help, they will have raised
£500,000 for distribution to communities in and around conservation areas.

The team required electrical power to charge an array of electronic devices to include:
High definition video camera
Still digital cameras
Laptop computer
GPS unit
Satellite modem
Mobile phones
The obvious solution given the location had to be one of solar. We supplied the team with all the necessary solar components to achieve the power requirements for their 4 month expedition.

By helping them you are
helping to better the chances of people living throughout rural Africa. The
Cycle of Life believes that African people deserve to be the masters of
their own destinies. To achieve this we are working alongside communities
to:
1. educate rural Africans so that they can make their own
informed decisions;
2. demonstrate the value to the community of sustainable
use of wildlife resources;
3. provide long-term stable support so that decisions are
not rushed into.
Every penny donated through this website will be distributed to initiatives
from Namibia to Kenya - initiatives in which the local community is
proactive in finding and implementing development schemes that do not come
at the cost of their natural resources.
