Where can I get a cheap consumption meter?

I want one of those digital meters that has a remote sender on your house input cable and a big digital display to tell you how much you are using.
I don't know if some time ago I saw an advert for one of the utility companies giving them away. :?

British gas and Eon have both given these meters away at sometime, ebay is awash with them.
I will be getting one very soon. ;)

I see what you mean Shawn.
Handy piece of kit to have, you may get a bit paranoid watching the thing though

Those are they!
They go for between £8 and £40 for the same item depending on who is selling it, how its been listed. :?
Not in a big rush so will get a cheap one at some time.
Just got my electricity bill in and they owe me £50.
Two years ago I owed them £150
still the same direct debit going out monthly, I wouldn't let them put it up.
Just got the wheels in motion to tackle the gas bill now.
Solar hot water and log store, new boiler

Re: Where can I get a cheap consumption meter?

Got an "Energy watch" one for a tenner!
BS is right they are inaccurate.
Stood watching my meter in the garage for ten minutes and it was stood still due to the solar grid tie and it was reading between 25w and 40w within that time.
Did occur to me it could be measuring power getting pushed back into the grid but when I turn stuff on and off unless its in kW's it does not know. :(
I'd imagine they are all pretty much the same as well. :(
